Process and Result of ASIIN Accreditation

Accreditation Process

The project accreditation process is as follows:

Preparation and Application
Universities submit an application form via email to the ASIIN office, accompanied by a curriculum overview for each study program. Upon receipt of the application, ASIIN forwards it to the relevant Technical Committee for review. Subsequently, the ASIIN office provides the university with a detailed quotation based on the Technical Committee's recommendations.

Self-Assessment Report and Preliminary Review
Next, the university prepares a self-assessment report according to the provided guidelines or templates. Prior to final submission, ASIIN offers a written pre-review or preliminary interview service to ensure the report's formal completeness.

Preparation and Execution of On-Site Visit (Audit)
Based on the Technical Committee's recommendations, ASIIN forms an expert team and collaborates with the university to plan the on-site visit.

Report Drafting
Following the audit, the ASIIN office prepares a report. The university then has the opportunity to comment on this report.

ASIIN Committee Processing and Conclusion
After receiving the university's feedback, experts issue a final statement and recommendations to the Technical Committee and the Accreditation Committee. Subsequently, the relevant Technical Committee and Accreditation Committee review the entire process. Finally, the Accreditation Committee makes the final decision. Upon completion of the review, the university receives a report containing the final decision.

Accreditation Results

The validity period of ASIIN accreditation is limited. The initial accreditation, with the award of any seal, is valid for five years; subsequent renewals are valid for seven years. Moreover, the calculation of the validity period is always based on the regulations of the awarding body.

The accreditation process may yield the following outcomes:

Unconditional Accreditation: The program receives unconditional accreditation for the entire accreditation period.

Accreditation with Reservations: This refers to accreditation with specific requirements, resulting in a validity period shorter than the maximum allowed by the accreditation process. In this case, certain specific requirements must be met by a specified date. If these requirements are fulfilled on time, the accreditation will be extended to the maximum allowed period. The completion of these requirements is inspected and evaluated by the review team and the responsible Technical Committee, and confirmed by the Accreditation Committee. The regulations of the awarding body regarding the imposition of requirements also apply. If necessary, the ASIIN office will provide detailed information on the applicable conditions.

Program Suspension ("Program Loop"): If the process reveals unmet requirements but the applying institution is expected to resolve them during the suspension period, the Accreditation Committee may suspend the accreditation process once. When deciding to suspend the process, the Accreditation Committee also stipulates the conditions that must be met for the process to resume. The decision to suspend the process can be made either at the institution's request or initiated by ASIIN. If additional visits are required for program resumption, the applicant may incur additional costs. The regulations of the awarding body regarding program suspension also apply. If necessary, the ASIIN office will provide detailed information on the applicable conditions.

Accreditation Denial: If the requirements for awarding the seal are not adequately met, accreditation may be denied. In this case, if the application was for the seal of the German Accreditation Council, the Council will be notified. The regulations of the awarding body regarding accreditation denial also apply. If necessary, the ASIIN office will provide detailed information on the applicable conditions.

Accreditation Effectiveness

Professional degrees accredited by ASIIN are recognized in the European Union, Australia, South America, China, Japan, and other countries, enabling graduates to work as engineers in these regions. According to the ASIIN official website, 6,691 study programs and 376 institutions have currently been accredited.

Process and Result
